Here and Now: Reevaluating the Needs of Parents and Young Children in Early Childhood Settings

Saturday, October 29, 2022

This workshop for Waldorf early childhood educators, with a special focus on birth-three, takes place online.

For the past two-and-a-half years, caregivers and parents of very young children have been reckoning with a new worlda world filled with constant diligence, fear, sudden and unexpected change, and creative parenting and schooling that has required deep amounts of flexibility on the part of us all.

Now, as we slowly emerge from the world of the pandemic and seek to find our footing amidst layers of disruption from the status quo, the question is: Where do we go from here? How do we re-establish the calm and predictable assurance of rhythm? Which tools, resources, and principles from this recent timeas well as from the pre-pandemic pastcan we hang onto, and which need to be re-imagined? How can we honor the effects of the current state of the world that our children have already come to know (or have ever known) while offering them more solid ground from which to grow?

In this virtual workshop we will explore the needs of caregivers, parents, and young children in today’s early childhood settings, and share strategies, tools, and ideas for going forward.

Facilitator

Anjum Mir has been supporting parents in establishing healthy home rhythms for over 20 years. Her teaching experience has taken her from public and private school to Waldorf education, which she discovered while looking for an educational system that honored the development and spiritual well-being of her first child.

Currently, Anjum, a mother of four, works in pedagogical administration and teaches parent-child classes at the Westside Waldorf School in Los Angeles; offers prenatal, infant, and toddler-focused workshops and seminars; and holds parenting classes for parents of children through middle school. She is on the board of WECAN and several other education-focused organizations and is involved in teacher education and training.
