Come to Sunbridge for an in-person art studio with Kelly Beekman! During this art-filled day, you will discover new ways to approach art-making with your students, as you explore the beauty and diversity of the human body through drawing and painting.
Using the art tools and materials common in the Waldorf grade-school classroom, we will:
- Practice forming, shaping and dressing the human body
- Discuss human development and how it affects body proportions and posture
- Consider how the body moves and then draw it in motion
- Experiment with color-mixing using block crayons
- Explore how to improve your slant-line and shading techniques with colored pencils
- Engage in painting exercises that will guide you to acquire new brush skills and improve your technique for planning and completing beautiful wet-on-wet watercolor paintings
The art studio activities will not be grade specific, but are meant to support you as an artist and teacher. Be prepared to practice techniques and approaches that build your artistic confidence and to be inspired by working alongside other practicing Waldorf teachers. As it is whenever Waldorf teachers gather, there will also be plenty of time for sharing, conversation, and problem solving.
We encourage teachers of all levels to participate.
