An online professional development workshop for early childhood educators wishing to develop or expand their outdoor classrooms. Explore the benefits and challenges of being outdoors with children and the many different approaches that nature-based early childhood education encompasses.
In this lively workshop, we will share and discuss topics that include:
- Identifying the opportunities of your outdoor space
- Balancing artistic and practical activities in nature-based programs
- Protecting and nurturing the lower senses year round and in all weather
- Understanding the role of risk in play and learning
- Inviting parents as partners
Opportunities for community-learning will include small group activities, time for individual reflections, and presentations including a peek into the creation of Acorn Waldorf School’s Forest Program and The Neighboring Tree Project.
Note: Attendance at this online workshop is recommended, but not required, for registration at our in-person April 28-29th workshop, Forest Kindergarten Through the Year: Breathing Through Rhythms and Practices — Hands-on Practice.
